Tera Chehra Kitna Suhana Lagta Hai - Cover By N V Krishnan

Presenting a Ghazal after a long time…Again a Jagjit Singh ji’s number from his album “Unique”. It is a very melodious as well as meaningful romantic Ghazal.

A strange thing happened while recording this song. I had sung and recorded with lot more harkatein and improvisations than the current one. I was tooo happy with the outcome also, a very rare feeling for me about my own songs. But unfortunately when I saved it and played it back, the vocals were playing in a note lower than the track..!!!!!. There was no way I could do anything as it had already been mixed. The master file in the recording software was playing alright, though when mixed and saved again it was playing wrongly. At last I had to discard that recording and re-record the whole song again... I was sooo fed up of the whole thing and decided to sing very simply without much improvisations... :( I still have not figured out how this happened...!!!!

Please listen and let me know what you think of it…

This second version is also quite nice...I would have also liked to hear that first version.

The simple version also sounds very good. You have captured the essence of the song really well :). If you get a chance to re-record the first version please do post it :).

NVK sahab, you are too humble! Yehi aap ka bada-pan hai!

On your technical delimma, I have experienced something similar, not on the same scale as you did though. Every now and then, I come across songs that would sound off after applying compression. Same file without compression would sound OK. Now, this happens rarely and not to the whole file. So, I guess I still am not sure what happened in your case. Was the music too loud when you recorded it? I am intrigued.

On your rendition, I would call it very soothing. You have this "therao" in your voice that brings out the feelings in the song. Very nicely done! Personally, I imagine this ghazal to be a bit slower in tempo but I have not heard the original in a while.

Paras..Thanks a lot for the feedback. The earlier version cant be posted as I have already deleted it...Now I feel I should have retained it in the software files.

Nandita..Gad to know you like the Ghazal. Shall try and record a version with all those harkatein and improvisations soon..

Smitha...Thanks a lot.

Azam Khan.. Very nice to read your encouraging remarks.. I am still struggling to get the recordings done properly.. Hope I will learn the technique soon..:). Regarding the tempo , it is the same as the original, at least the version I have with me... In fact I always keep the original in one of the tracks of the recording window for reference...I started to do this after one of the Ghazals was rendered at a faster tempo as the karaoke track I got was a faster one...

Thanks again..

NVK,
Little late listening this ghazal, but you did a great job with this fabulous ghazal. Your voice has a great appeal which somehow touches your listeners. I liked it!
